Our Client, a healthcare organization committed to upholding their mission, values, and ethos, is seeking a Senior Medical Scientist to join their team. Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientists in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, this role offers opportunities for both full-time and part-time employment with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Medical Scientist, you will work closely with the Chief Medical Scientists and the Laboratory Manager, contributing to the efficient service delivery in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Your key responsibilities include:

·Providing efficient services while adhering to policies and procedures.
·Leading the introduction of innovative methods, equipment, and consumables.
·Coordinating scientific and support staff within the laboratory to ensure optimal patient care.
·Implementing a patient-centered quality management program and ensuring compliance with ISO15189 requirements.
·Supervising and managing laboratory reagents and consumables.
·Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field.
·Reporting and addressing mishaps, complaints, and equipment defects.
·Ensuring compliance with laboratory record-keeping policies.
·Facilitating staff education and training.
·Supporting professional and other visitors to the laboratory.
·Assisting in writing and revising standard operating procedures and guidelines.
·Ensuring compliance with international and national standards.
·Participating in the Hospital Performance Review and Development System.
·Upholding our client’s mission and values.
·Contributing to the attainment of JCI and ISO15189 Standard Accreditation.
·Performing tasks in compliance with relevant regulations.
·Collaborating on safety procedures and health and safety regulations.
·Assisting in the development of the laboratory information system.
·Participating in financial reporting and cost-benefit analysis.
·Performing other duties as assigned.

Reporting Arrangements:

You will report to the Chief Medical Scientists in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, the Laboratory Manager, and the Consultant Haematologist. This role may require you to work across both disciplines as needed.

As the needs of our client’s organization evolve, your duties may change, and flexibility will be essential.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

Candidates for this role must possess:

·Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Science or equivalent.
·One of the following NFQ Level 9 postgraduate qualifications:
·MSc Clinical Laboratory Science.
·MSc Clinical Chemistry.
·MSc Biomedical Science.
·MSc Molecular Pathology.
·Fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
·Must be registered with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study.
·Desirable Qualifications
·Knowledge and experience of working in an ISO15189 accredited Medical Laboratory.
·Experience with iLab Laboratory Information System.

·Four years of full-time clinical experience as a medical scientist.

·Advanced competencies in biomedical science.
